Our Green Life

When we first conceived the idea of setting up a glampsite within the Ash Coppice it now inhabits, our vision was that it would nestle in the woodland providing little visual impact on the landscape or physical impact on the woodland or its inhabitants.  We wanted to give our guests the opportunity to live alongside nature in all its wonderful variety, from the trees to the bats, birds, insects and flowers that live in the woodland.  That vision has never wavered and continues to be our guiding principle in everything we do.  We have been honoured to receive a Green Tourism Gold Award and the Welsh Green Key Award for sustainability in the hospitality industry, which makes us believe that we are on the right track, but of course we are very aware that we can never ease up, we must always be looking for ways to improve. 

When it came to building the glampsite in 2014, our alachighs were sourced and made in the UK. The frames were made using wood from sustainable sources and we used reclaimed wood for the interiors. As we update the tents we adhere to this policy.

At the time we also commissioned, and still follow, a coppicing management plan which has resulted in regeneration of the woodland, and each year we replant at least one hedgerow on the farm – a vital habitat for a range of insects, birds and animals​. We are also planting new trees and in 2023 we have already planted over 100. Lastly, we do not use herbicides on the land – weed control is simply by “topping” i.e. cutting the weeds​.
