Group Gatherings

If you are planning a special occasion such as a birthday, reunion or families get together, why not book exclusive hire of the glampsite? You’ll have the woods to yourselves and an adventure to remember!

With our two amazing shared spaces, our eight permanent alachighs and capacity for up to fifty guests, we are the perfect space for a get together like no other.

Woodland Magic

The first of our entertainment spaces is the wonderful Chehel Sotoun. Set in a stunning grove within the glampsite itself, the name is inspired by the grand pavilion where the King of Persia would host lavish receptions in the 17th century. Our woodland ‘pavilion’ won’t disappoint.  A wonderful outside/inside space, it has a glorious stretch canvas cover, open sides for that outdoors party feel, tables and seating enough for up to fifty guests and electricity for the all important sound and lighting. At the top end of Chehel Sotoun is a large open firepit surrounded by an outdoor semicircle of wooden seating, known as The Cwtch (Welsh for a cuddle or a hug). From sit-down dinners to wonderful workshops, family gatherings to memorable reunions, this is the perfect woodland space for that extra special occasion.

Relax and Unwind

We also have the lovely Petro. A larger version of our accommodation alachighs but smaller than Chehel Sotoun, this beautiful tent offers a cosy space, comfy armchairs, electrical sockets, a reading lamp, a warming wood-burning stove and enough tables and benches for a sit-down dinner for thirty six. Custom-built and kitted out for families and friends to enjoy getting together, it is also perfect as a ‘chill out zone’ for a larger group.  Just outside is a huge fire pit (and an extra large BBQ) with sensational views across the meadows and down the valley to the River Severn.

Both of these spaces are included in the price of a whole site hire and you can decorate them to suit the occasion.

Sleepovers

One of the most relaxing things about having a party at Penhein is that there are no taxis to book nor hotels to find, as the glampsite can accommodate all your guests.

Our eight luxurious, self-catering alachigh tents can sleep up to forty adults or forty eight if a mixed group of adults and children. Each of these lovely tents, clustered together in a private wood, has an en-suite loo, woodburning stove and fire pit and offer an oasis of calm where you can enjoy some down time from the group gathering.

Catering

You may wish to handle all the catering yourself, in which case we have the Cheat’s Kitchen, conveniently situated next to Chehel Sotoun, with a few essential mod cons. Alternatively if you would like to indulge in a little outsourcing, we have curated a hand picked selection of wonderful suppliers to create the party you have always dreamed of having. From Persian woodland banquets and foraged feasts to hog roasts, on site creperie, a cocktail bar and wood cooked pizzas, we offer it all… and more.

Group activities

There’s lots to do at Penhein, from bushcraft, foraging and clay pigeon shooting to treasure hunting, perfume workshops and more. There is also the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean on our doorstep, a place full of yet more fabulous activities for groups. Back at base camp after a day’s adventuring, get together in Petro or under Chehel Sotoun for a relaxed debrief or hang out. Play games, gather together for a lovely shared supper in, watch the evenings draw in or learn about the night sky. It’s all about making memories.
