Intrepid young explorers can burrow into ancient woodland and build an impenetrable den, whilst water babies can head down to the stream for paddling and Poohsticks. For restless thrillseekers, the surrounding area has plenty to offer – from kayaking down the Wye and caving in ancient mines, to mountain biking through the Forest of Dean. Of course it’s not only about keeping the little ones occupied – parents deserve some time off too! So whilst they’re making new friends and busy bushcrafting under the watchful eyes of trained instructors, you can enjoy a few hours off and do your own thing, be it a peaceful cup of coffee by an open fire or a relaxing massage to sweep your stress away.

Back at basecamp, our alachigh tents can sleep a family of two adults and up to four children. There’s a kingsize double, two adult truckle beds and a sofa bed in each one, all tucked in alongside a well-equipped kitchen beneath a high domed ceiling. There’s comfortably enough room for everyone and more great news is that there is no need to traipse through the site at night, as all the tents have their own ensuite flushing loo.
Budding cooks can learn how to prepare a delicious dinner on an open log fire and toast marshmallows on the burning embers, before you all cosy in to one of the communal tents with board games and playing cards to while away the evenings. There is no TV or wifi onsite, just an oasis of calm and comfort for spending quality time together as a family.
Throughout the summer holidays, our changeover days are Monday and Friday. For short stays during the rest of the season, you can also book in from Tuesday or Wednesday. To check availability and prices click here.
