AA Platinum - one of only 7 in Wales!

For the second year running we are so proud to have received an AA Platinum award - the highest from the AA. We achieved the highest rating on all our services and facilities and the inspector was really impressed with what's new this year. This includes our wheelchair accessible Woodland Washroom, the woodfired pizza oven and the outdoor kitchen with super-sized BBQ and prep area. 'An absolute delight to return to Penhein Glamping...which unsurprisingly sees further enhancements since our last visit. The new facilities look excellent and of course done sympathetically to fit in with the natural appear of the site'.

We have been lucky enough to recieve an AA Gold Award every year we have been open, but you can imagine our delight to find this year we have been awarded Platinum. This is the highest honour the AA offer (they call it the Elite group) so we are overwhelmed! Here are just some of the comments from our report. An absolute delight to meet with Site Team Manager, Michelle, who is evidently immensely proud of Penhein. Fabulous to hear of the full wedding license now in place, the new'bar' installation at 'inside-out' and the new planting of fruit trees which in time will not only act as pollinators and bear fruit but aid as further privacy between the tents. Hearn the Troll, now turned into a published book, children's site tours and the opportunity to book beauty treatments, all sound like a great additions for any stay. Standards of cleanliness were impeccable. What a fabulous location this really is.

Winners! Of the Bro & Byd Award. December 2024

We were so excitied to be awarded the Bro & Byd Award for the business that goes the extra mile on environmental sustainability. This was from our regional Tourist Board (South East Wales) and it means that we are entered into the NATIONAL Welsh awards for the same category. This will be awarded at the end of March 2025 so we are keeping our fingers firmly crossed (and carrying on with the oh so important task of maximising our sustainability practices....).

So excited to be recognised by Visit Wales again, this time with the Visit Wales Walkers Welcome Award. This is in recognition partly of the fact that we are lucky enough to be surrounded by some beautiful scenery and miles of dedicated walking paths in the nearby Forest of Dean, but also that we do all we can to encourage and help our guests find the walks that best suit their abilities and wishes.

Awarded Green Key Accreditation - March 2022

We are very proud to have been awarded the Wales Green Key Accreditation! Run by Keep Wales Tidy, Green Key is all about unlocking sustainability in the tourism industry. Green Key allows Welsh businesses to celebrate the positive environmental changes they are making. It was a long process of having to prove ourselves and so pleased we have done it. We are re-evaluated every year so we can't rest easy...

Regional Finalists in the 2021 Rural Business Awards. June 2021

We are thrilled to hear that we have been shortlisted in both the Best Rural Diversification Project and the Best Rural Tourism Business categories in the Wales & NI region of the 2021/22 Rural Business Awards! So exciting! The Best Rural Tourism Business is our second nomination for this category so we are doubly proud. The final regional round of judging will take place during the week commencing 19th July 2021 so we are keeping everything crossed that we will make it to the National Final!

Finalists in the iNews Staycation Awards! May 2021

So excited! We have just heard that we are finalists in the iNews Staycation Awards for Wilderness Stay/Glampsite of the Year. The winners are being announced in June so we are keeping everything crossed. There were over 1,000 entries across a number of awards so to be nominated for a second time makes us incredibly proud. Thank you to all our wonderful guests for your support and feedback. This is definitely a wonderful bonus to our season!

We are so proud to have won Best Glamping Site at the South East Wales tourism awards! We were presented the award by the Deputy Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport, Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas AM at a lovely lunch at St Fagans National Museum of History. A very exciting start to the season!

We are so pleased and proud to be a shortlisted finalist in the South Wales Business Awards. We're holding our breath now until the end of June when results are announced!

Winner Innovation and Excellence Award - Glampsite of the Year 2019

We were so excited to hear about the win. It was all kept very hush hush until the announcement was made. During the awards process over 90,000 corporate professionals, the general public were invited to nominate associations, companies & individuals based on their achievements over the previous 12 months. Additionally Corporate Livewire’s extensive research team has put forward a selection of individuals who have excelled within the sector. Information was submitted on each nominee and their independent judging panel decided upon the most deserving teams, companies and individuals to walk away with one of these prestigious accolades. We are blown away.

Our first AA inspection and we are so excited to have received the maximum Five Green Pennants. We were give some lovely comments from the inspector, including "The attention to detail in furnishing and equipping all areas is commendable and it is a testament to authenticity that the minimum amount of land was reclaimed from this unspoilt natural woodland, to maximise the visual effect of stunning displays of season wildflowers, fauna and a wide variety of indigenous trees… contributing to a memorable guest experience".
