Getting Together

Shared Spaces

We want Penhein to feel like a home-away-from-home, which means not only making it cosy and comfortable, peaceful and private, but also making sure it’s geared up for groups, fun for families and perfect for parties. After all, home is also about who you share it with.

There’s plenty of room inside your alachigh tent to hang out together and relax at the end of the day, but for something a bit more spacious or for special occasions, we also have two fabulous communal spaces –  Petro and Chehel Sotoun.

Petro, the communal tent

Named after the boys’ great-grandfather’s farm in Iran, Petro is custom-built and kitted out for families and friends to enjoy getting together as a group under canvas. It provides a communal area with a bit more space for all our guests to use, and inside you’ll find electrical sockets, lamps, tables and chairs, bean bags, and lots of toys and games for entertainment. There’s a warming wood-burning stove and, just outside, a large fire pit and huge BBQ both with sensational views across the meadows.

Chehel Sotoun, the covered gathering place

The second of our wonderful shared spaces is Chehel Sotoun, a stunning grove in the centre of the glampsite in which to host group activities and meals or celebrate special occasions. The name is inspired by the grand pavilion where the King of Persia would hold lavish receptions in the 17th century, and our woodland ‘pavilion’ won’t disappoint.  Although an outside space, it has a glorious stretch canvas cover, open sides for that outdoors party feel, tables and seating enough for all our guests and electricity as required.  At the top end of Chehel Sotoun is a large open firepit surrounded by an outdoor semicircle of wooden seating, known as The Cwtch (Welsh for a cuddle or a hug, so we thought it a very apt name as families and friends gather together). Chehel is a wonderful space available for all guests to use, perhaps for a picnic in the shade or to stay out of the rain, to set up a mat for some calming yoga, as a perfect games space for children or an informal space for drinks and meeting up with other friends on site.

If you have exclusive hire of the glampsite you can decorate both the entertainment tents with your own personal touch so they’re styled to suit the occasion. For information on booking for groups we’d love to hear from you! Email us on enquiries@penhein.co.uk or ring on 01633 400581.
