Spend a morning in the beautiful surroundings of Berkeley Castle before enjoying a relaxing lunch at The Yurt Tearooms. The perfect day for fine weather and wonderful for children as well, with eery voices to listen to in one of the halls, a dressing up room to play in and a visit to the fabulous Butterfly House for a close up to nature.
Spend the morning looking around the castle itself, taking in the grandeur and sites along the way. Spend some time in the stunning gardens and see the ghostly sculptures you will find all around. For the children there are free quizzes and trails inside and outside the Castle, Outdoor Games and a Dressing-up area with lots of period costume to choose from.
Break off from your wanders for lunch at the small cafe called The Yurt Tearooms, selling morning coffes, delicious light lunches or a treat of afternoon teas. Alternatively you can eat your own food in a dedicated picnic area provided in and around the walled Garden, but picnics are not allowed beyond the ticket office.
To finish your day spend some time in the glorious Butterfly House. Here you will find in the region of 42 exotic species, from as far afield as Japan and Indonesia, all flying freely in a tranquil tropical oasis and it is a wonderful opportunity to see rare species in beautiful surroundings. The house is also home to the world’s largest moth – the Atlas Moth! They will often land on you as you walk through and there are opportunities to take photographs if you are careful.
