Spend the day exploring the River Wye and all the adventures it has to offer to children and adults alike. From Paddle Boarding, to kayaking, rock climbing, gorge scrambling or mountain biking, you can find it all on or along this outstandingly beautiful river.
Why not contact one of the local adventure companies such as Inspire2Adventure or Forest Adventure and choose one of the exciting options they offer, so you can start your day with a thrill. You can try paddle boarding, canoeing or kayaking if you want to stay on the water, or rock climbing or caving if you want to stay on dry land. These are only a few of the options, there are many more to choose from!
Depending on your choice of adventure you may or may not have the chance to stop at a pub for lunch. If you do you can try the Saracens Head at Symonds Yat or The Boat Inn at Penalt. They both have wonderful riverside locations and good food.
You can stay on the river all day, but if you decide you would like a change of pace you could finish your day with a walk around the wonderful Chepstow Castle. Built in 1067, the castle has grown and changed over the centuries. The oldest building is the Norman great tower but building work continued well into the 17th-century as medieval battlements were replaced by stronger musket-friendly parapets. This is a wonderful castle to visit with fantastic views along the river.
