Talk of wellness is everywhere, particularly at this time of year. But what does it really mean? Rather than faddy diets, endless exercising and unrealistic resolutions, why not simply make 2019 your year to feel great? Not only as an individual but as a family too. To us, it’s quite simple, in fact it’s the very ethos of Penhein – it’s in our spirit. Here’s our 5-step guide to wellness the Penhein way:

  1. Slowing Down


When was the last time you stopped to look up at the stars, inhaled the fresh scent of the woods in the morning or noticed the hooting of an owl? Rushing about doing the school run or pressures at work mean we rarely stop to notice the little things. We invite you to step away from the routine and go slow.

2. Doing a Digital Detox


Screens are everywhere, whether it’s endless Instagram scrolling or the non-stop buzzing of new emails. It’s hard to switch off when our phones are switched on. At Penhein we have no WiFi on site. We challenge you to go your whole stay without switching on your phone…Make memories not selfies and have fun as a family!

3. Getting Outdoors into Nature


Getting active and being outdoors, we know it makes us feel good but sometimes we need an extra nudge to actually do it. Our new Bluebell Nature Trail is a wonderful way to discover our ancient Coombe Wood that’s carpeted with white wild garlic flowers, lightly scented bluebells and dashes of hot pink campions. Or if you’re up for a fun challenge, try the Penhein Treasure Hunt that takes you all over the estate – with a bit of healthy competition thrown in!

4. Relaxing Treatments


Spa treatments and glamping? It’s an unexpected yet enviable pairing. Relax and unwind within the sanctuary of your own alachigh tent, nestled within natural surroundings. 5. Trying Something New


When was the last time you tried something new? It’s the fastest way to invigorate your attitude – maybe your day job’s quite serious and you’re in need of a creative outlet, maybe you’re a keen cook who’d like to learn to forage.
