February 4, 2022
The 2022 season start is nearly here and so we are full steam ahead! We can’t wait to welcome guests back, to hear the children shouting with excitement when they find our natural adventure playground, smelling smoke from the BBQs and seeing everyone relax in the glorious site in the woods. Two new tents, our stunning new indoor/outdoor party space and some fabulous new adventures at Penhein are all on the 2022 agenda, so read on!
Lambing Live at Penhein
We are so excited to announce our first ever ‘Lambing Live at Penhein‘ which is exclusive to Penhein guests. Anyone staying between the 4th April and the 9th May will have the chance to help with our lambing. You will join the team in the lambing sheds to help gather up newborn lambs, put them in pens, bottle feed (if required) and help feed the ewes. If you are really lucky you may even see a live birth! This is all at no extra cost to your stay. Book your stay now and as soon as you have made your booking, contact us to to reserve your spot as places are limited and are on a first come first served basis.
Talking Trees!
Exclusive to Penhein, we are thrilled that well known author of ‘The Tree Forager’ and all round tree guru Adele Nozedar is offering fantastic tree walks to our Penhein guests. You know how we see trees every day, to the extent that we hardly notice them? Those trees are now big news, basking in the limelight at last. Walk with Adele around the stunning countryside of Penhein Farm and, with a mix of fascinating facts and many magical stories, you will learn the enthralling history of trees as you go. Part nature trail, part mythological discovery tour, you will finish with a whole new appreciation of one of nature’s true heroes. Brilliant for families, this is suitable for all ages and includes activities (why not try some barking rubbing!) and ideas to inspire an appreciation of the trees that you might know at home, too!
Dark Skies at Penhein
We are so lucky at Penhein to be in a Dark Skies area, making us the perfect place for some stargazing while you are staying with us. This is why we are delighted to announce that we have teamed up with Dark Sky Wales to provide some amazing courses for all you budding astronomers. We will be offering courses such as Stargazing and Astrophotography, Stargazing for Couples, Stargazing for Groups and Family Stargazing and with any one of these, you will be set for an experience literally out of this world. We are also lucky enough to be able to offer Dark Sky Wales’ Moon Workshops, a brand new concept specially designed to fill the time either side of a Full Moon when ‘ordinary’ stargazing isn’t possible. We will be one of the first sites to offer this and we can’t wait!
Bush Tucker Trials
For a long time now one of our most popular activities has been our Bushcraft. Run by ex army instructors we have now extended this to include our own version of the Bush Tucker Trial for those groups feeling extra adventurous. Designed as a follow on from the adult bushcraft course, think ‘I’m a Celebrity’ but without the TV crew (or Ant and Dec for that matter). This fun competition gives you the chance to see how daring you can be, trying a variety of creepy crawlies and insects and guessing what they are whilst blindfolded. Pass the smelling salts!
Chehel Sotoun – Our own ‘Grand Pavilion’
For those of you already in the know, Chehel Sotoun is to be our additional new gathering space which will be set in a stunning grove within the glampsite and designed as a place guests can get together to celebrate special occasions, or just hang out with friends. Continuing our Persian theme, the name is inspired by the grand pavilion where the King of Persia would host lavish receptions in the 17th century. We don’t think our woodland ‘pavilion’ will disappoint! Positioned near the Cheat’s Kitchen, with its new breakfast bar and with electricity and water we think this wonderful space, with its glamorous stretch canvas cover, could be set to become the heart of the site, where companionship and relaxation will become the order of the day. As you can see we have made a good (if muddy…) start. We can’t wait to see it finished and will post photography as soon as possible!
Cae Solomon and Castroggi
We have to admit that taking photographs of the progress of building two new tents isn’t helped if the weather is a bit grim, but there is no doubt our Site Team are doing a fantastic job preparing the ground for Cae Solomon and Castroggi. The Office Team have been busy with the warmer, but no less important, job of designing the interiors. Although the layouts will be exactly the same as all our existing tents, kitchen units are being handmade, flooring chosen, all important colour schemes discussed in detail, luxury beds and bedding ordered and all those tiny little details that make Penhein so special are being seen to.
