These days weddings come in many guises, and for those looking for a smaller, more intimate wedding celebration for up 50 guests, Penhein is an ideal option. Read on to find out more about how we are the perfect venue for the wedding, or vow renewal, of your dreams!
1. Woodland Weddings at Penhein
Just like our glamping, weddings at Penhein offer something a little different. Nestled in amongst the trees in the centre of Penhein Farm is the gorgeous glampsite itself. This comes complete with a stunning stretch marquee party space and an additional, beautiful, all-purpose indoor space, ideal for the bridal party preparations or perhaps as a quiet space for guests.
Offering the freedom to curate the wedding celebration of your dreams, Penhein is a blank canvas on which to work your own magic. A wedding party at Penhein means no marquees to book or accommodation to worry about, they are all part of the package, as is the breathtaking scenery and stunning countryside all around.
2. It’s so simple!
Our arrangement is simple, you book the glampsite and have the freedom to create the wedding celebration* of your dreams
- The site is on a dry hire basis (with a minimum three night stay) so you can choose your own suppliers and decorate the site to any theme you wish
- The stretch marquee (Chehel Sotoun) and additional communal tent (Petro) are part of the package at no additional cost
- All 50 guests can stay at the glampsite, either in the alachigh tents, camping or in bell tents
*Penhein is not a licensed wedding venue so you will need to arrange a legal ceremony or registration separately at an official, legally-recognised location.
3. What is included in the Site Hire Price
- Luxurious Accommodation
The glampsite has eight stunning alachigh tents each of which sleeps up to four, with a large and comfy sofabed for an extra adult or two small children if required. Each tent has its own ‘loo pod’ with flushing loo and a BBQ and firepit just outside the door. Three of the tents (The Park, Cae Solomon and Castroggi) have their own shower located just outside the tent itself. For the remaining tents there is our wonderful luxurious shower block with its underfloor heating, monsoon showers and Victorian style rolltop bath.
- Perfect Party Spaces
The first of these is our glorious woodland entertainment area, Chehel Sotoun. This stunning grove within the glampsite has a large stretch marquee which creates a fabulous outdoor/indoor space large enough for all your guests to gather together. It has open sides for that outdoors party feel, tables and seating enough for all for a meal and further room to spare if you wish to have a band playing.
The second is Petro, our large, all-purpose communal tent with electrical sockets, reading lamps, tables and chairs and seating for up to 30 for a meal if required. There’s a wood-burning stove and a huge fire pit outside, from where you can take in the sensational views across the meadows. Petro is the perfect place for a variety of uses, including for the bridal party preparations or as a chillout space.
- On site cooking facilities
Whether you want to do your own catering or bring in an outside caterer, we have all the options covered. Each tent has its own woodburner for one pot cooking, and a BBQ pit outside. There are also three other giant firepits around the site and a large BBQ, all perfect for outdoor cooking. The Cheat’s Kitchen in the centre of the site, has a number of appliances for cooking, such as induction hobs, microwave, kettle and toaster. If you are using an outside caterer they can base themselves here or outside Chehel Sotoun where there is parking, water and electricity.
- Wildflower Meadow and the farm
You will have access to our beautiful wildflower meadow with its stunning views across the valley and down to the River Severn. It is perfect for drinks or for setting up outdoor games or a bouncy castle. You can also walk all around the farm and into nearby Wentwood Forest if you would like some peaceful, ‘down’ time.
- Utilities
Included in the cost is all the water and electricity you need, available at various points around the site, with specific stations for any suppliers you may be bringing in. We supply you with enough wood for the fires, woodburners and firepits throughout the site, based on a typical 3 night stay.
6. Something Else? We’ve got it covered…
- Suppliers (eg caterers, florists, music, bouncy castles)
Finding the right suppliers for your celebration can be one of the hardest tasks when arranging a party and so we have compiled a small list of excellent local suppliers which we are happy to make available on request.
- Entertainment & Activities
A lovely part of any stay at Penhein is the wonderful range of activities on offer while you are here, and you can add these for all your guests to make some unforgettable memories. We offer everything from BBQs to star gazing and our beautiful farm to explore. We also run a number of bookable adventures on site including, amongst others, foraging, bushcraft and clay pigeon shooting and have a range of relaxation treatments that can be offered either in your tent or in Petro.
Music is also a key part of many a celebration and Chehel Sotoun, in the centre of the site, is the perfect place for a band to play during your stay (we have a curfew of 11.00pm for all music to be turned off which is on behalf of our neighbouring farms and the nearby village).
