November 26, 2021
The 2021 season is finished, and it went by like a flash. We may have spent the last few weeks putting the site into hibernation for the winter, but we are already putting some long planned new ideas into action. Read on to see our plans for 2022, and how you can win a classic Penhein Christmas Hamper……
Closing the Site For Winter
Our lovely alachighs (alla-cheeg) may be the height of luxury in the summer months, but getting them ready for the winter is not not all glamour! The canvases are washed down and re-waxed, furniture completely removed and stored elsewhere, floors are taken up, units emptied and cleaned, beds and bedding moved and repairs made all round the site. Our wonderful Site Team work hard to make sure that everything is ready for the Spring when we put everything back in its rightful place ready to welcome our guests to tents that have the feel of a boutique hotel and the comfort of home.
Two New Tents
We will be welcoming two new tents in 2022, taking us up to eight. As with all our tents, Cae Solomon and Castroggi are named after places on the farm. These wonderful additions to our glorious woodland glampsite will have the same layout and fittings as our six existing tents, as well as their own dedicated shower immediately outside the front door. We are busy ordering the bespoke kitchen units, news beds and furniture as well as choosing each of the tent’s own individual colour scheme. Again, as with the other six tents, each will be positioned in their own private place within the woods so guests can enjoy the peace and quiet of the outdoors.
Welcome Chehel Souton!
Chehel Souton is to be our additional new gathering space which will be set in a stunning grove within the glampsite and designed as a place guests can get together to celebrate special occasions, or just hang out with friends. Continuing our Persian theme, the name is inspired by the grand pavilion where the King of Persia would host lavish receptions in the 17th century. We don’t think our woodland ‘pavilion’ will disappoint! A fantastic outside/inside space, it will have a glorious stretch canvas cover, open sides for that outdoors party feel, electricity for the all important music and lighting and tables and seating enough for all our guests. It will be near the Cheat’s Kitchen in the centre of the site so has easy access for any catering requirements, and there will be a quiet woodland path taking guests from Chehel Souton itself down past the Hearn Hideaway (a childrens’ favourite hiding place) and opening out on to the wildflower meadow and its glorious views down the valley.
Keeping Green – Electric Car Charging Pod
We are always working hard to ensure that in the day to day running of the glampsite our actions are both as green and as sustainable as possible. At the start of 2021 we were thrilled to receive a Green Tourism Gold Award, and we are currently applying for a Green Key Wales accreditation. As part of this ongoing effort to maximise our sustainability and manage our carbon footprint, we are planning to add a charging pod for guests with electric cars. This will be positioned in the car park on the outside edge of the site. All being well, we will be able to confirm its arrival in the New Year!
