What's New at Penhein

It’s a Wrap!

November 8, 2018

This week we close the gate on a spectacular glamping season at Penhein. What a year it’s been! Thank you to all of our wonderful guests who have made 2018 such a success. We made plenty of new additions this year including our Adventure Playground, now rarely seen without a child or two chasing about, we’ve met so many lovely new families and have been delighted to welcome back lots of familiar faces too. Before we embark on a busy winter of site maintenance and planning for next season, we’re pausing to look back at the very best bits of 2018:

We’ve hosted Parties a’Plenty

We put our new Party Tent to good use hosting an almighty summer bash for the lovely people at Propercorn. Plus we’ve had birthday parties with homemade cakes baked by James, anniversaries with bottles of bubbles popped around the campfire and our spooky Halloween fancy dress procession through the woodland.

Said Namaste to our first Yoga Retreat

A zen-like atmosphere fell upon the glampsite with the arrival of our first yoga retreat this spring. Fresh air, nutritious food and yoga practise – a new way to experience Penhein and one we hope we’ll see more of next year. Say OM…

Filled the diary with action-packed activities for all ages

More guests than ever signed up to try out a new experience during their stay – we’ve now got so much to choose from! As well as ever-popular Bushcraft lots of you tried our new Foraging workshops, learning to make botanical-infused gin cocktails and even homemade perfumes. Plus the new Treasure Hunt has proved a hit with bigger groups and had people merrily galavanting all over the estate.

Opened our locally-sourced Penhein Tuck Shop

We opened our popular Tuck Shop and it really doesn’t get much more local. Many of the delicious products come from Penhein itself, like the eggs laid by our free-range brown hens and the honey fresh from our own hives. Others are sourced from our friends in the local area including Monmouthshire ales, cider and Troggi sparkling perry. Yum!

Said hello to the Instagram community

We joined instagram properly this year. Thank you to all those who have engaged with us, tagged us in pictures or comments and shared their Penhein memories. We love seeing how you enjoy the glampsite – plus it helps other people find us! If you aren’t yet following us, say hello and keep up to date with everything at Penhein via @penheinglamping.

Enjoyed the glorious outdoors with a bumper year for the weather

How lucky were we this summer? More sunshine than we can remember. Whilst fair weather isn’t essential for glamping it definitely helps! Nothing beats long walks through the rolling Monmouthshire hills, paddling in the streams and brooks and eating al fresco around the fire pit in the evening. And clear skies have meant more nights spent gazing up at the twinkling night sky.

And welcomed back more friendly faces than ever before

This year it was wonderful to welcome back so many familiar faces to Penhein! There’s no greater honour than guests returning year-on-year, bringing with them new friends and growing families. Thank you! And we do hope to see you again next year.
