What's New at Penhein

Half Term Happiness!

September 26, 2023

Winter may be on the radar, with the changing of the clocks taking us into darker evenings BUT there is still time to enjoy the glorious Autumn season with a fabulous half term stay here at Penhein. Crunchy leaves underfoot, pink cheeks from fresh air, bonfires and marshmallows, mushroom picking, hide and seek, hot chocolate and toasty toes in front of woodburners. We have it all here, so come and join us for some half term happiness!

1. A World of Fun

Interior Alachigh outdoor games

At Penhein, you will find adventure on the doorstep. After a cosy family evening in front of your own woodburner and a peaceful sleep in the quiet of the countryside, come the morning all you have to do is open the door and let the children go. The adventure playground, Hearn Hideaway, Wildlife Challenge, Young Explorers packs, bushcraft, bug hunting, paddling, pooh sticks and more all await. There is so much to do on the farm!

2. Take your Time

So here’s the thing. While the children are off making new friends, enjoying their freedom, playing conkers, building dens or just getting plain muddy, the adults can enjoy some time of their own. There are some glorious walks around the farm and in nearby Wentwood Forest or you can book a fabulous relaxation treatment, or why not try your own foraging session. Once you have de-stressed a little, have a family adventure with a Family Bushcraft session, or some archery (or even axe throwing!). If you would like to try something a little further afield there is more adventure just a short drive away in the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean.

3. We haven’t forgotten Halloween

For guests staying with us over Halloween, don’t worry we’ll make sure you can get in the mood. The glampsite will be decorated with some spooktacular Halloween dressing so all you have to do is bring your own ghost stories! We’ll even be selling pumpkin carving kits in the Penhein Pantry if you want to give it a try….

4. Here’s to a Penhein Autumn Welcome!

5. Enjoy a personal foraging session with Penhein owner, Helen

forage Foraging

One of Helen’s favourite things is an Autumn forage. Join her as her guest for a foraging walk around the farm in a search for some of Penhein’s natural offerings. Sweet chestnuts, damsons, sloes, blackberries, mushrooms and hazelnuts (each depending on the season) are just some of the wonderful things you may see. Don’t forget to bring a bag to fill with your seasonal bounty. You never know what you might find, and who better to show you round than the owner of the farm herself!  Available from the 4th September until 3rd November, on a Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday. Subject to availability.
