Going out with a bang! (and a whizz, and a whistle and a whoooosh!)

Whatever the weather, from April to October, we enjoy weeks of freedom and rural adventure at Penhein. This year is no different: we’ve had five wonderful months of glamping so far – and it ain’t over yet! Helen’s mother always says that if August disappoints, September more than makes up for it, so we’re crossing our fingers for an Indian summer and planning for an autumn full of fun.
Speaking of which, we’ve got a fantastic last hoorah up our sleeves for our season’s end a little further ahead in November. We know it’s bonkers to even be thinking about autumn already, with five weekends’ worth of sunny September still to come, but we simply wouldn’t want you to miss out! Here’s what’s in store…
Penhein Bonfire Weekend
It would be remiss of us not to mark the end of our fourth year with one final fling. And it just so happens that our last weekend, the 3rd-5th November, falls on bonfire night. So excuse the sentimentality and pardon the pun, but we’re going out with a bang and we’d love you to join us in celebrating Penhein Bonfire Weekend. Glamp with us for the whole weekend, splashing in puddles and crunching leaves by day, and cosying in to our beautiful alachigh tents by night.
Private Fireworks Display
On Saturday evening we’ll put on a fireworks display especially for our guests, launching rockets and sending sparks flying from the field nearby the glampsite. With no-one for miles and an entire sky to alight, we’ll be oohing and ahhing across the valley on one of our favourite nights of the year. Toast the tail end of half term together as a family, with sparklers, a bonfire, and an intimate fireworks show by the Penhein pyrotechnics department (aka James).
Build your own Guy Fawkes competition
No good party is complete without a guest of honour. And on bonfire night that could only be the infamous arsonist, Guy Fawkes. We’re inviting our younger glamping guests to craft their own Guy to be judged by Helen and James on the night. Having rewarded his creator with a prize, the winning Guy will take pride of place at the top of the stack above all the other Guys as we light the bonfire. We’ll supply some materials to build your Guy or feel free to bring your own. Just don’t get too attached to the poor fellow…
Fill your wellies – and your bellies!
If the giant bonfire and boundless excitement aren’t enough to keep you toasty, we’ll be warming you up from the inside out. Enjoy barbecued sausages from our local butchers, toasted marshmallows and toffee apples aplenty, hot chocolate for the kids, and deliciously spiced mulled wine for the grown ups.
