What's New at Penhein

Drum Roll Please…. Announcing the Penhein Drinks Drop!

March 2, 2018

Nothing beats a small relaxing drink (or two) around the campfire, and nothing is worse than finding the cool box mysteriously empty….. Therefore, we considered it essential to come up with a way to counter the problem and spent a very merry evening ‘taste testing’ some of Monmouthshire’s finest local brews. So now, rather than having to set off in search of a local off-y, you can sit quietly and unwind with a delicious drink around the campfire without having to lift a finger. Choose from three craft beers, three ciders or a lovely non-alcoholic Lurvill’s and the Penhein Drinks Drop will leave your drinks at your tent door at 6pm daily. Chin, chin!

Our list of Penhein Perfection

Lurvill’s Delight (non-alcoholic)

Lurvill’s Delight was invented in 1896 by twin brothers, Harold and Iolo Lewis. The original mixture included stinging nettles and dock leaves infused with juniper berry extract.  This modern version, based on the original recipe, is a refreshing blend of Welsh spring water, botanical extracts and natural infusions, free from artificial flavours, colours and preservatives and with no added sugar.

Apple County Cider

Ben and Steph Culpin from Apple County make multi award winning real cider from local orchards on lush, rolling Monmouthshire hills. Each cider is made from a single bitter-sweet apple variety using 100% freshly pressed juice.

The multi award winning Troggi Perai (Perry) is made from specific perry pears which are only grown in two areas in the world – southern Normandy, France and the southern Welsh border counties. Baa Brewery Beers

Baa Brewing is the result of a collaboration amongst a group of friends with a shared passion for quality beer. What better way to prove this than opening the first brewery in Chepstow for over 600 years?

Baa BQ Blonde (3.7%) is a light blonde session ale with a floral hoppy aroma, a mild malty taste and a refreshing hint of fruity sweetness, perfect as an accompaniment for the BBQ.

Baa Hopping (4.2%) is a full-bodied beer with pronounced hop character from a unique blend of several hop varieties.
