What's New at Penhein

2022 is All Wrapped Up….. (but we’re already planning for 2023!)

November 14, 2022

Well, another season is sadly over and we are busy putting the site to bed for the winter. We were sad to see our final guests leave and we will miss the sights and sounds of the glampsite during the season. Never fear though, we are already well underway with our planning for next year, so read on for a look back at the season just gone, and for a sneak peek at some of the things already in place for 2023!

Lambs, lambs and more lambs…

2022 saw our first ever ‘Lambing live at Penhein’, when guests were able to join us in the lambing sheds, help gather up the newborn lambs, try their hand at bottle feeding and help feed the ewes. We were so pleased to hear that our guests loved it, and our sessions were all fully booked. So successful in fact, that we are able to announce ‘Lambing Live 2023’!  Exclusive to Penhein guests, anyone staying between the 31st March and 26th April 2023 will have the chance to join one of our lambing sessions for only £25 a tent. Book your stay now and as soon as you have made your booking contact us on enquiries@penhein.co.uk or 01633 400581 to reserve your spot, as places are limited and are on a first come first served basis.

Glorious Group Glamping

Penhein came into its own again this season, providing the perfect backdrop for an array of different groups who took over the whole site. With the added bonus of our wonderful new gathering space Chehel Sotoun right in the centre of the site and our giant firepit overlooking the wildflower meadow, groups (including weddings, birthdays, retreats, an anniversary or two and some company team stays) all found exactly what they needed for the perfect party. As one group organiser put it “We had a brilliant weekend at Penhein!  Everyone loved it. Such a great space…! Many thanks for all your help in getting it organised”. We know we are biased, but there really is something very special about Penhein as the perfect place to make some lifelong memories with friends, family and loved ones for a birthday or anniversary, a reunion or a retreat, or just a fabulous family get together.

Penhein’s Own Adventures

Bushcraft  Food at Penhein

We are incredibly lucky to be based so near the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean, as there is so much on offer there in terms of beautiful walks, exciting adventures and lots of wonderful attractions for children. However, at the risk of blowing our own (small) trumpet, we offer some pretty wonderful adventures of our own and this season has seen more of our guests than ever before taking up some of the outstanding options we have here. A couple of our visiting groups took the opportunity to book a team of our fabulous beauty therapists for the day for a series of luxurious massages. Another firm favourite was, and always has been, our junior bushcraft, and this year was no different, with the children learning (and then teaching their parents apparently) how to light fires without matches and then bake their own bushcraft bread. With our foraging courses, clay pigeon shooting and our Treasure Hunts around the farm, it really has been a busy time for adventuring.

Spooktacular Halloween Finish!

Our last party of the season was our traditional Halloween spookfest. With an action packed timetable that included jam jar lantern making, a fancy dress parade, trick or treating, hot dogs and ghost stories, all topped off by a group marshmallow toasting session and hot chocolate around the fire, we’re not sure who had the most fun, guest adults, children or us…… it was spooktacular fun!

Fabulous Feedback

We have been incredibly grateful to receive so many kind, thoughtful (and useful!) reviews and feedback suggestions from our guests this season. Many thanks from all of us here at Penhein to all of you who have written to us. We are also excited (and quietly proud) of our media coverage this year, including in The Times, The Guardian, Conde Naste and Country & Town House Magazine amongst others. It has meant a great deal to us. Why not grab a cuppa and browse all our reviews and coverage?!

If this has made you feel that you are ready for your next holiday, our 2023 calendar is now open for bookings! We look forward to welcoming you to Penhein one day!
