Our Environmental Policy

Penhein’s Environmental Policy

Mission Statement

Penhein Glamping recognises that it has a responsibility to the environment beyond legal and regulatory requirements. The glampsite, sitting as it does in the middle of a 450 acre farm, has been designed to have as little impact on the environment as possible, but we are committed to reducing our impact even further by continually improving our environmental performance as an integral part of our business strategy and operating methods.

Responsibility

Owner Helen Hearn is responsible for the development and implementation of the environmental policy. However, all employees are expected to share the responsibility for ensuring that the aims and objectives of the policy are met.

Policy Aims

We will continue to:

  • Comply with and endeavour to exceed all relevant regulatory requirements
  • Continually endeavour to improve environmental performance
  • Continually find ways to improve and reduce environmental impact
  • Incorporate environmental factors into business decisions
  • Promote responsibility for the environment within the whole team at Penhein
  • Undergo continuous self and outside agency monitoring of our environmental performance
  • Find ways to reduce the use of energy, water and other resources
  • Minimise waste by reduction, re-use and recycling methods
  • Make efficient use of our natural resources (e.g. wood, water, compost)
  • Ensure responsible purchasing, buying locally sourced products in environmentally friendly packaging
  • Use environmentally friendly products (e.g. biodegradable products, no single use plastic, eco cleaning products)
  • Work with suppliers to encourage high environmental standards
  • Involve staff in the implementation of all our environmental plans for greater commitment and improved performance
  • Update our plans at least once annually in consultation with staff and other stakeholders where necessary
