Penhein is a truly amazing place!
We approached the farmhouse in the middle of the 450 acre site and down towards a small wood where we where guided by James who met us on arrival. James weaved us through a small wood to the first opening where there was what can only be described as Boutique Hotel standard shower rooms even a roll top bath!! There was also attached to the shower block a full working kitchen for anyone who didn’t feel confident cooking in their dwelling including a freezer and a drying area for any wet and dirty clothing.
We where then walked down to a hidden opening in the woods where our glamping pod was waiting for us.
The glamping pods are positioned the perfect distance away form each other so that you have your own privacy and are not disturbed by other parties which was great. But if you did want to socialise with the other groups there was a communal fire pit and BBQ which I thought was a brilliant idea.
When we opened the door to enter the Persian style tent we where completely blown away!
James spent 20 minutes with us explaining where everything was whilst we picked our jaw up off the floor.
You could literally come away with nothing but food and have everything you needed. A bed and mattress, hotel duvets and pillows as standard, a fully working toilet, running cold water, a wood burner, every cup, plate & utensil, even an ingenious cold store where you could keep your fresh food!
Helen and James had also provided a hamper that you received on arrival full of the most incredible goodies, with homemade jam, homemade Elderflower cordial, local coffee made and packaged just for Helen and James site. Salted chocolate treats to die for and the most buttery shortbread biscuits, all these extras where the cherry on the top.
It just felt like everything was considered.
Once James had talked us through all we would need to know he left us to settle in and enjoy our break away.
For me and my husband this was a perfect break and a great way to celebrate our 4yr wedding anniversary. The facilities that Penhein have I could happily live here! 3 days was not enough. We cooked on both the internal wood fire that kept the tent amazingly warm and the open fire. We sat in the last of the summer sun in a wild flower meadow, which was perfectly positioned just outside our door. We even enjoyed one evening sat out looking straight up at the milky way while toasting marshmallows.
The Penhien land and its surroundings also give you lots to enjoy. We walked up to Gray Hill and bumped into wild deer as well as walking to Wentwood where we meet a few more. There are great walks and the villages at the bottom of the drive has a great pub and friendly locals.
Helen and James have truly created a little piece of heaven on their busy working farm. We will be back and have already told all our family and friends.
Thank you again to Helen and James for such an incredible stay.
