Proposition outline

The aim of this scheme is to maintain enhance and create wildlife habitats and to lease these sites to various parties who would benefit from supporting such a scheme. Once the concept is proven, it would be expanded initially to cover Monmouthshire, Wales and ultimately all of the UK.

This proposal targets  lower grade land that is no longer required for agriculture.  The concept can be described as farming "wildlife as a crop" except that nothing is removed from the site; the "crop" being the beneficial habitat for wild-life.

The venture will manage the flow of funds from investors  to the habitats and ensure that these are being managed correctly, and that demonstrable increase in wildlife ensues.

Three types of investor might be interested….

Benefits to sponsors would be offered in the form of a "safari" round the property as part of the package, and due to the numerous footpaths on this property way markers discretely advertising the sponsors of the wildlife site can be incorporated if requested.

This concept has at least three other advantages:

  1. Each site that is leased out by the owners comprises a piece of the jigsaw to create a larger and therefore biologically better wild life reserve. The piece of the jigsaw will then be managed as part of the larger picture.

  2. As part of this management there is no need for each small site to have its own picnic site or shed as the tenants will be offered the use of the very large barn on the farm to hold meetings or an excellent picnic site near the stream for a group picnic.

  3. If one of these sites has, for instance, a goshawk nest, the other sites will be visited by the goshawk as its hunts and so the benefit accrues of the big picture to the piece of the jigsaw, to the benefit of the tenants.
